Meet Patrick Cantlay parents, Steve, and Colleen Neylan Cantlay

Patrick Cantlay, an accomplished American professional golfer, was born on March 17, 1992. Before making his PGA Tour debut, he held the top spot in the World Amateur Golf Ranking for a remarkable 55 weeks. He has won eight PGA Tour titles over the course of his career, including the 2021 FedEx Cup. Prior to transferring to UCLA, Cantlay attended Servite High School, where he won the California State High School Championship as a senior. 

He won four competitions during his outstanding freshman year, including the Haskins Award, given to the top college golfer in 2011, as well as numerous other accolades, including Pac-10 Player of the Year, Freshman of the Year, and the Phil Mickelson Award, given to the GCAA National Freshman of the Year.

When Patrick Cantlay qualified for the 2011 U.S. Open through sectional qualifying and tied for 21st place as the lowest amateur, his success as an amateur attracted attention. He shot a course record 60 at the Travelers Championship the following week, setting the PGA Tour record for the lowest round by an amateur. 

He also had the lowest amateur finish at the AT&T National and RBC Canadian Open. His amateur success persisted, and he qualified for the 2012 Masters Tournament by competing in the Western Amateur and U.S. Amateur finals, where he finished as the low amateur. With a 2-1-1 record, Cantlay also represented the United States at the 2011 Walker Cup.

Patrick Cantlay is regarded as one of the game’s up-and-coming stars and a top performer on the PGA Tour thanks to his successful amateur career, which paved the way for a successful professional career. He was honored for his achievements by being inducted into the UCLA Athletics Hall of Fame in 2022.
